Get to Know NOLA

Believe it or not, there is life in New Orleans beyond the French Quarter. With their live oak tree-lined streets, awestriking antebellum mansions and charming Creole cottages, the Garden District and Uptown are two of the loveliest sections of New Orleans. Tulane and Loyola universities are right across St. Charles Avenue from Audubon Park, a picturesque place to walk or run off all the delicious calories you’ll consume while here. There are also many authentic, no-so touristy places to eat and shop along Magazine, Maple and Oak streets. And with easy access to the St. Charles streetcar line, you can hop on and off whenever you want, or stay on a while longer to explore other parts of the city. With a Jazzy Pass, you can ride all day long for just $3.00.

Garden District Hotel Costs

New Orleans hotels in the Garden District area (Uptown) range from wonderfully restored mansions full of heritage to luxury boutique hotels that will take care of your every need. Prices vary depending on the location. You can find some hotels that are more affordable than those in the French Quarter, as well as some that are just as (and sometimes more) expensive; it all depends on what type of hotel you would like to stay in.

The streetcar runs from early in the morning to late at night, and can take you to many attractions and restaurants throughout the New Orleans area. There's also a number of bus lines that travel through this part of the city. You will find that parking is typically less expensive in this area, and you can often park on the street for free. Attractions include Audubon Zoo, Audubon Park, Magazine Street, St. Charles Ave., Tulane and Loyala Universities, and more. If you really want to see what New Orleans is like outside of the French Quarter, then we highly recommend spending some time in this area.

Hotel amenities vary, but you can expect excellent service at all. Amenities vary from full service hotels including in-hotel restaurants and large, modern meeting space to more quaint and picturesque New Orleasns style rooms to relax in while you're here.

Whether you're a business traveler or just looking to get away from it all, I'm sure that you can find an Uptown hotel in the Garden District of New Orleans that's perfect for your stay.

Attractions in the Garden District

Located in uptown New Orleans, all of our recommended Garden District hotels are only a short streetcar ride to the French Quarter and its many restaurants, tours and entertainment. You can also take the New Orleans streetcar past the beautifully landscaped campuses of Loyola and Tulane Universities or head over to Audubon Park to relax before venturing off with the family to explore Audubon Zoo.

The New Orleans Garden District features world famous restaurants as well as many newer award-winning restaurants, too! When you stay in a Garden District hotel, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll down Magazine Street, well known for its anitques, with over six miles of local and independently owned shops. Many of the uptown hotels in the Garden District are located right on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar route ... a local favorite for our Mardi Gras parade routes as the floats pass under the large oak trees covering the "neurtral ground" (aka median)! The Garden District of New Orleans is also home to beautiful and historic mansions with stunning gardens, so be sure to take your camera!
