New Orleans Weather in September

September may be the beginning of fall for other parts of the country, but in New Orleans, the summer heat remains. Temperatures do drop slowly from the low 90s to the mid 80s as the month progresses, which means lows start around the mid 70s at the beginning of the month and dip to the upper 60s by September’s end. Clothing for warm weather is still necessary throughout the month, but if you’re traveling in late September, consider bringing a light jacket for evening outings.

Skies remain clear or mostly clear for most of the month, and chances for precipitation decrease as compared to the summer months. You can still expect rain chances to hover around 30% to 40% of the time. Humidity remains high, ranging from mildly humid to humid most days, which leaves the air a bit muggy.
