New Orleans August Events

It's summer in New Orleans and there's a lot to do in our sultry city! Whether you are running around in the French Quarter wearing a red ball gown or strolling the Warehouse District in white linen, you will not be bored in New Orleans during the month of August! Whitney White Linen Night

Whitney White Linen Night, an art lover's block party, will be held on Julia street in the New Orleans Arts District August 6th beginning at 5:30pm. For approximately four hours, the street will be closed to traffic so art enthusiasts adorned all in white can stroll in and out of the many art galleries along Julia. There will also be live bands playing in the streets as well as food and beverages from some of New Orleans top restaurants and bars available to purchase. The event is FREE. Oh and don't forget to wear as much white as possible!

Satchmo Summerfest

You do not want to miss Satchmo Summerfest if you are in town the weekend of August 5-7. Named after New Orleans very own, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, this 3-day music festival will feature some of New Orleans top bands like The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The Soul Rebels. The event will be held in the epicenter of the French Quarter at Jackson Square where two stages will be erected. There will also be one indoor stage inside of Louisiana's State Museum Arsenal. It will cost $5 for adults and kids under 12 are FREE. The $5 will get you a bracelet that will let you move in and out of all the events throughout the day. And, what is a New Orleans festival without food? There will be many specialty New Orleans dishes as well as beverages available for purchase. Don't miss out!

Dirty Linen Night

Not only is there a White Linen Night, but there's also a Dirty Linen Night to celebrate the many art galleries of Royal Street. On August 13th, Royal Street and a few adjacent streets will be closed off so visitors can wander freely through French Quarter galleries and take advantage of the special promotions and entertainment in the area. The event is FREE and begins at 7pm. 

Red Dress Run

On Saturday August 13th, prepare to see hundreds of people running through the French Quarter in red dresses because it is the annual New Orleans Red Dress Run! The run starts at 12:30 pm at Louis Armstrong Park. But don't be surprised if participants start arriving and pre-gaming around 9am. Your registration fee will gain you full access to the event where there will be unlimited food, beer and you'll be supporting over 100 local charities. You do not want to miss this unique event!

Saints vs. Steelers Preseason Game

Who dat say 'gon beat 'dem Saints?! On Friday, August 26th, the New Orleans Saints will battle the Pittsburgh Steelers in a preseason game. No matter what NFL team you root for, you do not want to miss the Saints play at the Superdome. There's nothing like it! And make sure you check out the tailgate party in Champions Square before the game, fans, food and live music! Who Dat!
